High-Functioning and Stressed? Here's What Happens In The First Session

Use therapy to be the best you and live your best life

You're a high-performing professional who excels in your career, but behind the scenes, stress, anxiety, or depression are taking a private toll. You know you need support, but the thought of reaching out feels terrifying or embarrassing. This is exactly who I work with.

In much of the world, there's a stigma about consulting mental health professionals, and that fear of the unknown can keep you feeling stuck. That’s why I want to pull back the curtain and explain the first two steps we take together—to take the fear and uncertainty out of the equation.

My Practice Focus: I specialize in providing super-private online therapy for international professionals struggling with resilience, stress, and trauma recovery.

Because my practice is 100% online, I've designed my schedule to accommodate busy clients across major time zones, roughly running from the Middle East and Asia to the US Coasts.

Step 1: The Confidential Fit-Call (15 Minutes, Free)

The goal of this initial call is simple: To ensure your issue is something I specialise in, and that you feel comfortable with me. It’s a zero-pressure check for chemistry and logistics.

We start by briefly checking that the voice or video connection is stable. Then, you briefly tell me what kind of support you're looking for and what you hope to achieve. If we both agree that my expertise is a strong fit for your goals, we will then confidently book your first session to start building your path to recovery.

Step 2: The First Formal Session (60 Minutes, Discovery & Planning)

This is where we explore the issues in depth. Stress hits people differently, and I use several effective therapy approaches. In this comprehensive session, we figure out what's truly going on and how we’re going to work together to solve it.

We focus on four key areas—this is a guided conversation, not an interrogation:

  • Your Background: We'll touch on your overall background—what you do, where you are in life, your age, etc. This helps me understand the unique pressures of your environment.
  • Recent Stressors: We look at significant events you've gone through in the last year (e.g., career change, health scare, relocation). This isn't to dwell on the past; it’s to connect the dots and pinpoint the specific patterns we need to break.
  • Mental Health Check: We look at common symptoms of stress as well as depression and anxiety. How is your sleep, concentration, and appetite? Do you feel unusual sadness or anger? Are you overthinking? This allows us to establish a clear baseline for your recovery.
  • Your Support System: We discuss your network—friends, family, and colleagues. This helps us identify the areas where you are already resilient and the areas where we can build better boundaries and support.

By the end of this session, we will have an objective overview of what’s happening. I will summarise our discussion, and we’ll have a clear chat about your treatment goals and the specific evidence-based approaches we can use to reach them.

Before We Finish: Your First Actionable Insight

At the end of our first session, you will likely have a new key insight into your situation. You may feel tired, but hopefully, you'll also feel a sense of clarity and relief.

Because I work fast and efficiently, we'll immediately turn that insight into a small, simple piece of "homework." This is not a test. It is a manageable, actionable first step that helps you immediately gain clarity and control.

Testing out a new approach is a practical way to start testing a new approach before our next meeting. You won't have the total fix, but you will have a tangible step toward it.
